Get to Know Dr. Carly Schaefer
Dr. Carly Schaefer has several years of experience in the dental field and is now a proud provider at Buda Dental Professionals. Her favorite part of her career is being able to work with an incredibly capable team and build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with all of her patients. With a family deeply rooted in the dental field, she is connected to the work she does and doesn’t settle for providing anything but the best to her patients. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Growing up, Dr. Schaefer’s grandpa and dad were both dentists. She would spend most of her days after school and during the summer in the dental office and got to see first-hand how fulfilling it was for them to help transform their patients’ lives via their smiles. She loved how she could build deeper connections and relationships with her patients, and the hands-on nature of dentistry kept her engaged and passionate.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Schaefer attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate studies and Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin after that. Since graduating dental school, she has remained dedicated to advancing her skills by completing countless hours of continuing education and hands-on training, including the following:
- Hiossen Implant Master Course
- Clinical Mastery CE Course Program (currently involved)
- 3D Printing & Digital Dentistry
- Member of Surgical Masters CE Program
- Conscious Sedation Certification
- Certified through the Academy of Laser Dentistry
She also remains an active member of several professional organizations to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in her field, including the Academy of General Dentistry, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and Academy of Laser Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Schaefer grew up in Okemos, Michigan, but she considers Austin her hometown now. She lives in the area with her boyfriend and their two fur-babies, their Irish Wolfhound and poodle-mix, Marley, and their Maine Coon cat, Kygo. She enjoys going back to Michigan to take continuing education courses with her dad, who is a dentist and hosts various CE courses himself!
Whenever Dr. Schaefer isn’t at the office, she enjoys going golfing, hiking, wakesurfing on Lake Austin, and trying new restaurants in the area. She also goes to a lot of live music shows and concerts with her boyfriend, Chris. As an avid adventurer, Dr. Schaefer also enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, working out, and competing in Hyrox. An interesting fact about her is that she was a collegiate athlete and was on the University of Michigan diving team!
