Dental Bridges – Buda, TX

Gladly Filling Your Smile’s Gaps

While losing one tooth is bad, losing several adjacent teeth is even worse. The latter problem leads to a large smile gap that harms your health, good looks, and more. With that said, please don’t panic – you can solve this issue with dental bridges here in Buda! Drs. Strickland and Carlyon use these devices to fill a grin’s gaps, restoring one’s smile in the process. Read below for details on how they work, or book your consultation in the coming days.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a prosthetic that replaces lost teeth, though it differs from dentures and dental implants. Unlike those other options, the device is made of varied materials fused to either side of an artificial tooth. This design allows a bridge to “restore” one to four missing teeth at once.

Given the points above, the best dental bridge candidates lack adjacent teeth. Such people can often have their full smiles restored with just one treatment; they wouldn’t need follow-up work. Qualifying for a dental bridge is otherwise simple, as a patient only needs decent oral health.

Types of Dental Bridges

Before you can get a dental bridge, you’ll need to consult Drs. Strickland and Carlyon first. They’ll assess your smile to see whether treatment suits you. If they believe it does, we’ll draft a custom treatment plan for you.

We’ll review our findings at the end of your consultation. Depending on these results, our team may suggest one of two dental bridges to you. These types are:

Traditional Dental Bridge

As you might’ve guessed, a traditional dental bridge is the kind dentists have offered for decades. It consists of dental crowns fused to either side of a pontic – an artificial tooth. Given that fact, the device relies on nearby natural teeth (i.e., “abutments”) for support.

The traditional dental bridge usually isn’t costly, as its materials are inexpensive. Still, a dentist must alter the nearby natural teeth to place it. This work permanently removes some of the abutments’ enamel.

Implant Bridge

Unlike a “regular” one, an implant bridge uses dental implants – small titanium posts – to secure itself. These posts are placed in your jaw’s empty sockets and slowly fuse with nearby bone tissue. In doing so, they remain steady and secure the artificial tooth (or teeth) between themselves.

Implant bridges are notable for leaving your existing teeth alone. Since they rely on dental implants, a dentist doesn’t need to “prep” any abutments to place them. However, these devices do cost more than the standard option.

The Benefits of Getting a Dental Bridge

With a dental bridge from our office, you’ll enjoy several major benefits. These include:

  • Beautiful Looks – A dental bridge uses artificial teeth capped with porcelain, so the whole device blends seamlessly with your smile.
  • Great Oral Health – Since it fills your smile’s gap(s), a dental bridge reduces the spread of harmful bacteria and keeps your other teeth from tilting.
  • Easy Eating – Thanks to the teeth it provides, a dental bridge helps you chew food. That means it lets you enjoy your favorite meals without issue.
  • Lasting Results – The average dental bridge lasts 5-15 years, while a well-maintained one can work for 20+ years with proper care.
