Relay For Life
May 2009
We recently participated in the local Relay for Life 2009. Wow, what an experience! To see so many people from the community rally together was amazing. As a team, we were excited and honored to give over $5400 to the American Cancer Society! We were the leading team in the Buda / Kyle area, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our friends, family, patients, and community. Thanks to all of you for that! So many of us have had loved ones touched by cancer, so this event is held very dear to our hearts. This was our first of many years to come to participate in this worthy cause!
Buda Weiner Dog Races
April 2009
If any of you haven’t heard about the Buda County Fair & Weiner Dog Races, you’re missing out!! Aside from watching the dogs race, there is a lot to do, and this year BDP participated by bringing our very own Dunking Booth! That’s right…people of all ages had the opportunity to “Dunk-A-Doc”. All money raised was to support our efforts in Relay for Life. It was a success, and boy did everyone love to take the best shot at our docs!
Chapa Middle School
February & April 2009
Dr. Strickland was invited to speak to both the P.E. classes, as well as ESL (English as a Second Language) students at Chapa Middle School in Kyle. She spent the time educating the students on how good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups, and a healthy diet all help to prevent cavities. She was also able to talk about her path of becoming a dentist, and how she feels about her career. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local students, and Dr. Strickland looks forward to returning next year!
Hays CISD Nurses

Dr. Strickland sat down with all of the school nurses in the district to give a “refresher” on what to do in the instance of dental emergencies. She truly enjoyed getting to know that group and hopes to visit with them on an annual basis. They were very welcoming, and Dr. Strickland valued the opportunity to meet with other health care providers in our community, as we are all part of a team working together to better the health of those in our community.

Buda Dental Professionals was a Diamond Sponsor of this event hosted by the Hays Independent School District to raise money for the Hays Foundation. Several of our team members have children in local schools, which made this a truly special event for them.
Halloween Candy Buy-Back
October 2008
In 2008 we started an annual tradition of the “Halloween Candy Buy-Back”. When you think about it, what child really needs a pillowcase full of candy? We decided to offer to buy the candy back for $1 per pound…and what a success it turned out to be! Each child was paid in full for their donations and also given a free meal coupon to a local restaurant. But, best of all we sent the candy to the troops overseas. It was a hit, and we look forward to next year!
Buda Brownie Troop

Dr. Strickland and Jamie had a blast spending time with a local group of Brownies. They gave a tour of the office, and an overview of what each of their jobs entailed. Then, the floor was opened for questions…and the girls all participated, asking wonderful questions. The Brownies also got to be “up close” to watch how we examine teeth, check for cavities, and clean teeth. |
