Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded onto the front surfaces of the teeth. They are used to correct irregularities in the teeth, such as chips, discolorations, crowding or spacing, and can even alter the size of the teeth. Veneers require minimal reduction of tooth structure, and are therefore a safe, conservative way to improve one’s smile. Often times, Dr. Taylor or Dr. Strickland will ask the laboratory to use a model of the patients teeth and create a wax-up, which demonstrates the exact size and shape of the proposed veneers. This allows the patient to be involved in the planning of their smile and share any concerns prior to committing to treatment.
